Synopsis

Enid, a forgotten figurative painter, posts a self-portrait that explodes online. Overnight the canvas changes: a new wrinkle, a missing earring, a shadow behind her. As the painting accelerates toward her death, Enid realizes someone is literally finishing her life for her. She descends into the glittering art world she once fled, confronting collectors who want the final version, a gallerist who claims authorship, and a mysterious buyer who signs every check with her own signature. Each new brushstroke on the canvas removes another piece of Enid's reality until she must choose whether to destroy the painting or finish it herself. The film builds to a single night in her studio where the canvas and the woman face each other under one flickering work light, the outcome determined by who dares to pick up the brush last.

The story

Act I

Enid posts the portrait and wakes to find it altered; her friends swear she looks different too. She locks herself in the studio as the painting gains days while she loses them.

Act II

Enid infiltrates the auction houses and collectors' lofts hunting the buyer; each confrontation makes the canvas more grotesque and her own body weaker as the viral image outlives her.

Act III

Enid returns to the studio for the final sitting, confronts the painting's living reflection of herself, and makes the irreversible choice to either burn the canvas or step inside it forever.

INT. ENID'S STUDIO - NIGHT
A single bare bulb. Enid, 34, paint-smeared, finishes the final stroke on a massive self-portrait. She steps back, exhales, then lifts her phone and posts it.
The screen glows: 1 like. Then 10. Then 10,000.
She turns the phone off. When she looks back at the canvas, the painted Enid now has a single tear rolling down her cheek that wasn't there before.
Enid touches her own dry face. The bulb flickers. The painted eyes blink.
