Synopsis
In present-day New York, Enid Pinxit paints in total isolation until a mysterious patron commissions a portrait that begins changing on its own overnight. As Enid's lover—an ambitious curator—becomes trapped inside the evolving canvas, Enid must venture into the liminal worlds her art has spawned, confronting the shadows of her past and the price of her genius. The city starts to glitch around her, buildings fading like drying paint, forcing a final confrontation between creator and creation.
The story
Enid, a celebrated but solitary artist, accepts a lucrative commission from a shadowy collector and begins a portrait of a woman she meets in a dream; her lover, curator Lena, grows concerned as small impossibilities appear in Enid's studio.
The painting comes alive, trapping Lena inside its shifting landscape; Enid descends into hidden galleries and forgotten studios where past versions of herself demand she choose between saving Lena and finishing the masterpiece that could destroy everything.
Enid enters the canvas, rewrites the final stroke, and frees Lena at the cost of her own visibility in the real world, leaving behind a final unsigned painting that becomes an instant legend.
