Synopsis

Burned-out writer Marcus Hale has walled himself off in a crumbling Brooklyn brownstone after a career-ending scandal. One stormy night, charismatic drifter Leo Reyes breaks in—not to rob him, but to escape his own demons—and declares Marcus his new best friend. What begins as awkward cohabitation turns into late-night confessions, reckless adventures across the city, and a bond that challenges Marcus to finally live again. As Leo's hidden past catches up with them, the unlikely duo must outrun both literal pursuers and the ghosts of Marcus's failures. Their friendship becomes a lifeline and a battleground, testing how far two broken men will go for each other. In the end, Marcus learns that the greatest stories aren't written alone.

INT. MARCUS'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Rain hammers the windows of a dimly lit, cluttered one-bedroom. MARCUS HALE, 48, unshaven in a threadbare robe, stares at a blank laptop screen. A CRASH from the fire escape. He freezes.

MARCUS
Not tonight...

The window shatters. LEO REYES, 32, soaked and grinning, tumbles in clutching a duffel bag.

LEO
Nice place. You got any whiskey? I'm your new best friend.

Marcus grabs a baseball bat. Leo raises his hands, still smiling.

LEO (CONT'D)
Relax. I don't want your stuff. I want your company. Name's Leo.
