Synopsis

Two years after the blood-soaked triumph of Godzilla-1.0, Tokyo's fragile reconstruction teeters on the edge of collapse. Radiation scars still fester across the archipelago while survivors like ex-pilot Akira Kageyama battle psychological demons and government cover-ups. Then seismic anomalies reveal Godzilla has not died but evolved into something far more ancient and merciless, a zero-point entity that devours hope itself. As the monster's new form triggers cataclysmic storms and mass hallucinations, a ragtag team of scientists, soldiers, and civilians races to decode its weakness before the next attack levels the Pacific Rim. Filmed entirely for IMAX, every roar and footfall becomes an immersive earthquake of dread. The film culminates on Godzilla Day, November 3, delivering the first Japanese production engineered for the largest screens on Earth and plunging audiences into the darkest chapter of the kaiju mythos.

EXT. TOKYO BAY - NIGHT

Rain falls like black ink. The skeletal remains of the 1947 Godzilla still smolder on the horizon.

AKIRA KAGEYAMA (30s, hollow eyes) stands on a crumbling pier, uniform in tatters. He lights a cigarette with shaking hands.

AKIRA
Two years. We buried it. We buried everything.

The water begins to boil. A low, subsonic hum vibrates the IMAX screen. Fish float belly-up, glowing faintly.

YUKI (O.S.)
Mister... it's singing again.

YUKI AMEMIYA (16) emerges from shadows, clutching a Geiger counter that spikes wildly. The hum rises into a bone-rattling roar. The sea parts. A new dorsal fin, obsidian and dripping zero-light, breaches.

AKIRA
This isn't the same one. This is... before.

The screen cuts to black with a single heartbeat and the title: GODZILLA -0.0

Why now

In an era of climate dread, generational trauma, and nations rewriting their own histories, this film channels collective anxiety about irreversible catastrophe while delivering the biggest, most immersive Japanese spectacle ever made for global IMAX audiences.
