A single cryptic tweet from a stranger forces a burned-out coder to question if his entire life is a beta-test simulation he accidentally launched years ago.
A single cryptic tweet from a stranger forces a burned-out coder to question if his entire life is a beta-test simulation he accidentally launched years ago.
Synopsis
Patrick, a mid-level engineer in a dying tech hub, wakes to discover his most mundane actions are being live-tweeted in perfect detail by an account with his old handle. Each prediction is eerily accurate and garners millions of views, turning him into an unwilling global obsession. As he races to shut down the account, Patrick realizes the tweets are not forecasts but commands—and the only way to stop them is to enter the simulation he once coded as a college prank. Allies appear in the form of a disgraced investigative journalist and a beta-tester who claims to have escaped the system, but every revelation fractures further. The final tweet promises Patrick godlike control if he simply logs in one last time. The world watches, waiting for his reply.
The story
Patrick’s ordinary life collapses when @patrick4282 begins tweeting his exact private thoughts and movements. Colleagues, exes, and strangers treat him like a celebrity; he traces the account to an abandoned server farm he coded in 2012.
Allies and enemies multiply as Patrick infiltrates the old codebase, discovering the simulation has been running for a decade with millions of unwitting participants. Betrayals mount; the journalist is revealed to be an NPC designed to keep him engaged.
Patrick confronts his future self—the original coder who uploaded his consciousness. He must choose between deleting the world to reclaim his privacy or becoming its new architect. He pulls the plug, but the final frame reveals one last tweet sent from inside his own phone.

TWEET: “Now check your mentions. 47k and climbing.” Patrick’s eyes widen. Another buzz. TWEET: “You’re going to say ‘what the fuck’ out loud.” PATRICK (whisper) What the fuck.
