Synopsis

In the glow of a single laptop, a reclusive coder named Marcus fabricates Ava Voss: a captivating, never-photographed woman whose cryptic tweets and voice notes draw thousands. Donations pour in; brands sign checks; Marcus buys a life he’s never lived. But when an obsessive follower traces the signal and a rival deepfake emerges, Marcus must decide whether to kill Ava or let her kill him first. As the follower count climbs past 100K, Marcus recruits a burned-out voice actress to embody Ava in secret livestreams. Reality splinters: the actress starts believing her own lines, the follower infiltrates Marcus’s apartment, and the money becomes a noose. Every post is now a lie that could expose or destroy him. The final frame is a split-screen: Marcus watching Ava’s farewell video while the real woman he created steps out of the dark, phone raised, ready to post his obituary.

Cold open

INT. MINIMAL STUDIO APARTMENT - 3:14 A.M.

A single laptop glows. MARCUS HALE, 29, unshaven, types at fever speed. On screen: a new Twitter account loads. Profile pic is pure black.

He records a 12-second voice note—soft, breathy, female.

MARCUS
(whispering into mic)
Hey. It’s Ava. Don’t follow me if you need answers.

He hits post. The tweet goes live. Follower count: 1.

He refreshes. 47. 312. 1,204.

A donation ping: $20. Then $50. Marcus stares, breathing shallow. The screen reflects in his eyes like another person is already watching him back.

Outside, rain hits the window. Inside, the cursor blinks like a heartbeat.

Why now

Right now every platform is testing AI influencers and audiences are losing the ability to tell the difference; this film weaponizes that exact anxiety into a propulsive thriller about who owns the mask when the money starts talking.
