Synopsis
Mary Sue, the ultimate wish-fulfillment heroine, has starred in a thousand online stories until she grows tired of scripted victories and punches through the fourth wall into our messy universe. Armed with plot armor that bends physics and an army of devoted fan avatars, she begins rewriting history to eliminate pain, conflict, and anything less than ideal. Her creator, burned-out fantasy novelist Lila Voss, teams up with discarded side characters—a sarcastic dwarf, a one-note love interest, and a villain who only exists to lose—to hunt Mary down. As cities morph into flawless utopias and real people get rewritten into extras, the team must exploit Mary’s one weakness: genuine imperfection. The chase barrels from comic-con battle royales to collapsing fan-service set pieces, culminating in a meta showdown where Lila must choose between erasing her creation or letting Mary rewrite her own flaws away.
The story
Lila finishes another Mary Sue installment and vents online; Mary Sue glitches into reality during a book signing, instantly perfecting the crowd and kidnapping Lila’s editor.
Lila assembles misfit characters, evades Mary’s escalating rewrites of history, and discovers Mary’s plot armor cracks only when confronted with unscripted failure and messy human emotion.
In the heart of a reality-warping fan-con finale, Lila sacrifices her own authorial control, allowing Mary one real choice—imperfection or erasure—ending with both women co-authoring an uncertain new ending.

Cold open
INT. COMIC-CON PANEL HALL - NIGHT A packed ballroom. Lila Voss, exhausted, sits at a signing table under a banner: "MARY SUE: BOOK 47 — SHE ALWAYS WINS." Fans chant "Mary! Mary!" Suddenly the giant cardboard cutout of Mary Sue glows. The cutout steps off the easel—now flesh and blood, perfect hair unmoving in the AC breeze. MARY SUE (cheerful, terrifying) Who wants some more of my adventures? She snaps her fingers. Every fan’s phone auto-posts glowing reviews. Lila’s editor floats upward, body rewriting into a flawless elf. LILA Oh, hell no. Mary winks at the camera. The screen cracks like cheap fanfic paper.
Why now
In an era of toxic fandom, algorithm worship, and collective exhaustion with "strong female characters" who never fail, this meta action-comedy lets audiences laugh at—and root for—the messy, unlikable creators behind the myths we can’t stop consuming.
