Synopsis

Renowned DP Elias Vane is blackballed after an on-set accident. Offered one last job shooting a low-budget horror, he rigs a vintage 14mm lens and immediately notices the impossible: actors in the foreground loom like giants while the background collapses into dollhouse scale, and one extra appears in every frame despite never being called to set. As Elias pushes the distortion further, the lens begins revealing fragments of his own suppressed past—his missing sister, the night she vanished—now superimposed on the present like living afterimages. The killer isn’t hiding in the shadows; he’s hiding in the perspective itself, stepping closer only when the lens breathes wide. Elias must decide whether to destroy the footage that proves his sanity or keep filming until the frame finally swallows him whole.

The story

Act I

Elias, ostracized after a fatal set mishap, accepts a no-budget gig and first tests the 14mm; an unscripted figure materializes in every wide take, always foreground-giant, always watching.

Act II

The lens leaks suppressed memories of his sister’s disappearance; each new setup drags Elias deeper into distorted spaces where past and present collide and the killer steps out of the vanishing point.

Act III

Elias rigs a final impossible shot that collapses near and far into one plane, confronts the killer—himself at the moment of the original crime—and chooses to stay inside the frame forever, freeing the sister’s echo.

INT. SOUNDSTAGE - NIGHT

A single practical bulb swings above a cramped apartment set. ELIAS VANE, 38, sleepless, mounts a vintage 14mm lens onto his camera. The wide glass breathes the room into a funhouse: walls curve, a coffee mug the size of a planet fills the lower frame.

ELIAS
Action.

ACTRESS (20s) steps into foreground. Her face balloons, eyes huge and wet. Behind her the far wall collapses to postage-stamp scale. Elias tracks her. In the extreme background, a MAN in a gray coat materializes between the tiny doorframe—suddenly steps forward and fills half the frame without moving his legs.

ELIAS
Cut! Who the hell—

The actress turns, confused. The background is empty. Only Elias sees the coat vanish at the exact moment the lens stops breathing.

He rewinds the monitor. The man is there, staring straight into the 14mm, face already larger than the room.

Why now

In an era of front-facing ultra-wide phone cameras that literally distort our faces into uncanny giants, audiences are primed for a thriller that weaponizes the same optical trick to expose how proximity warps truth, memory, and identity.
