Synopsis
In the fog-shrouded kingdom of Vespera, where the sun never rises, young artist Elara Voss sketches dragons that claw free from ink and stone. Her creations feed on royal oppression, yet every wingbeat steals fragments of her humanity. As the king's shadow inquisitors close in, Elara must decide whether to burn her final masterpiece and free the realm or let the darkness claim her forever. Allied with a disgraced dragon-rider and a clockwork raven that speaks forgotten prophecies, she raids the catacombs beneath the iron throne. There, the dragons she births wage war on living nightmares conjured by the king himself. Blood and pigment mix on ancient stone while Elara's sketches grow monstrous and self-aware. The final battle erupts at dawn that never comes, with Elara painting the sky itself. Victory demands the ultimate price: her own shadow becoming the last dragon, sealing the tyrant away but leaving her an empty silhouette in a liberated world.
The story
Elara discovers her drawings animate as shadow dragons in a candlelit cathedral, drawing the king's lethal attention. She flees with her first creation, learning the curse's cost.
Pursued through catacombs and ruined spires, Elara recruits a fallen rider and forges alliances while her dragons grow feral and her body fades. The king unleashes ink-wraiths to consume her work.
At the eclipse throne room, Elara paints the ultimate dragon from her remaining life force, banishing the tyrant into eternal shadow and sacrificing her own form to become the realm's silent guardian.

A low growl echoes. From the page, darkness ripples. A dragon's claw punches through ink into reality, scales like oil and smoke. Elara gasps, hand trembling. ELARA Not yet... not this one. The creature's eyes ignite crimson. It unfurls wings that devour candlelight. Stone groans. Outside, iron boots approach. ELARA (CONT'D) Run. Hide in the shadows you came from. The dragon hesitates, then dissolves back into her veins, leaving a fresh scar. Elara collapses as the cathedral doors burst open.
